Opening Reception: Nov 12, 2016 7PM - 11PM
Fifth House 198 N. 4th St, Brooklyn, NY near the Bedford L Train Station The Fifth House and PointB invite you to the closing reception of The Skypod Project, an exhibition of sculpture, photography, and audio-visual works by artist Mark Parrish. Since the exhibition opened on September 16th, where Parrish presented the structure as a sculptural object, Parrish and his team of PointB collaborators have continued to work on the Centerpiece of the exhibition – the Skypod, a collapsible light-weight structure capable of hanging from trees, cliff faces, telephone poles or building facades allowing for suspension over diverse terrains. Fifth House has generously hosted this project as a work in-progress and open studio environment. Parrish has been joined by Miki Katagiri and other collaborators to fabricate the cladding for the Skypod. This portable experience structure will deployed in the Spring at Dreamland – a creative community, the Fifth House’s sibling organization, in the deep woods of upstate New York. Come and celebrate with us, and hear about our plans for the Spring 2017, when we will invite artists and creative practitioners to propose ways of inhabiting and activating the Skypod and other portable living structures, in the spirit of a communal worklodge environment that is at the very heart of PointB’s work.
